Description

This August view looking toward Anchorage shows the road cut into the toe of the mountain at left as it parallels the Knik River lowlands at right. High water from the river, likely caused by the outbreak of Lake George and possibly exacerbated by a high tide in Knik Arm, floods over a low spot in the road. A slide area of broken rock next to an outcrop of light-colored indigenous rock are apparent in the road cut at left foreground. A patch of what appears to be late season snow is on the roadside at right foreground. Close inspection reveals what may be a piece of historical litter in the form of a discarded bottle lying in the center of the road!
