Description

Image is of a gravel pit with a log crib "Gravel Trap", or loading chute, constructed on one side in near middle ground. A dump truck is positioned at the bottom of the chute while a cat tractor above pushes fine gravel into the chute to load the truck. Operators of both machines are partially visible. A ladder is propped against the log crib to the left of the truck and a third man stands next to it halfway up and is signaling to the cat operator that the truck is full. To the left of the log crib are several inverted tree stumps apparently retaining gravel on the slope above. A large bolder has been pushed off to the left while two others appear to be still in place in foreground center, serving as support for a heavy plank which, judging from the discarded papers, may serve as a lunch bench.
